BPI Employees and Clients Raise P12.7M for Disaster & Pandemic Facility

Photo shows (from left): BPI Head of Sales and Service Channels Angelie King, BPI Head of Corporate Affairs and BPI Foundation Executive Director Owen L. Cammayo, BPI President and CEO Cezar P. Consing, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) President Rene “Butch” Meily, BPI Southern Metro Manila Division Head Olga Ang, and PDRF Executive Director Veronica Gabaldon.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), through BPI Foundation recently turned over P12.7 million to the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) for the construction of a two-storey 506 square-meter safe shelter for people burdened by disasters and pandemics.

The funds came from the collaborative efforts of BPI employees, clients, and the BPI Foundation through the Bank’s fundraising initiative called #TaaLove: Sa Puso Magmumula ang Kanilang Pagbangon.

“As an institution, we are committed to continue playing a constructive and meaningful role in nation-building. We are grateful for the generosity of our dear clients and employees who took part in this initiative to help our fellow Filipinos in need,” BPI President and CEO Cezar Consing said.

Early this year, BPI called on its employees to heed the call for help by people affected by the Taal Volcano eruption. After initially raising P2.7 million from employees and a matching amount by the BPI Foundation, the program was eventually opened to the general public through the BPI branches from February 14 to March 13, 2020. An additional P10 million was raised from clients.

The multi-purpose facility was initially intended to support those severely affected by the Taal Volcano eruption and to prepare for future disasters. In light of the ongoing pandemic, the design will be modified so that it can also function as an alternative health care facility.
The facility will be built to withstand hazards in the locality and will accommodate approximately 300 people. Livelihood activities will also be held there when there are no disasters and pandemics to deal with. The construction will start in August once the ideal location is identified and the new design is approved.

Splash Corp. Makes Nationwide Donation as Hospitals Continue to Battle COVID-19

The fight against COVID-19 is far from over. Until a safe and effective vaccine is found for COVID-19, Splash Corporation believes the private corporate sector should continue to help the government curb the spread of this disease and keep people safe.

As part of their continuing COVID-19 initiative, Splash Corporation has been supplying medical institutions and frontliners in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao with Hygienix alcohol and Hygienix soap to ensure that their disinfectant requirements are sufficient. These donations are coursed through Splash sales personnel on the field and delivered with the help of Splash official distributors. Splash’s target is to finish delivering 80 gallons of alcohol and 5 cases of soap to each of the 40 hospitals in their list this July.

Splash Corporation also donated Hygienix alcohol and Hygienix soap to several Manila based civic organizations. Splash Corporation hopes that their donations to ABS CBN Foundation, I am Hope, Safe Shelter, and World Vision will help these organizations in their respective campaigns and programs in the fight against COVID-19.

According to Mr. Marco Nieto, Splash Corporation SVP and General Manager of Philippine Operations and International Operations, “Splash Corporation donated Hygienix alcohol and soaps to the hospitals and organizations as our way of helping prevent the spread of the virus by protecting our frontliners who are tirelessly working to save those who are afflicted by COVID-19.” The battle against the pandemic may not be over but if frontliners continue to receive the help and support they deserve from businesses and private individuals, their fight could be easier––and may soon be won.

Jollibee Group Foundation Partners with Community Groups to Help Feed Families in Need

Many families have been severely affected by the ongoing pandemic, reason that the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) partnered with the Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Pamilya ng Pantawid (SNPP) and the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability-East Asia Pacific (ANSA-EAP) to distribute some 215,000 food packs to families in need across 42 cities and municipalities in Luzon and Visayas.

Together with the Samahan ng Nagkakaisang Pamilya ng Pantawid (SNPP) the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability-East Asia Pacific (ANSA-EAP), the Jollibee Group has distributed some 215,000 food packs to communities in need as part of its FoodAID Program.

The Jollibee Group Foundation has brought its coin banks online to give the public a convenient way to donate and help feed even more frontliners and families who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

SNPP is an independent organization composed of parent-leaders who are also members of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. It has around 80,000 household-members across the country. ANSA-EAP, on the other hand, is an inter-country resource facility for social accountability, and is SNPP’s institutional partner for providing leadership and skills-building seminars.

SNPP and ANSA-EAP’s established network enabled JGF to systematically identify affected communities that became direct beneficiaries of food packs from Jollibee Group.

“In times of crisis, access to food is always a major concern. During this pandemic, the spirit of bayanihan is very much alive and we are humbled by how Filipinos from all walks of lives came forward to find ways to bring assistance during these uncertain times.” said JGF Executive Director Gisela Tiongson. “Being mindful of social distancing while doing food distribution required new ways of doing things. Our NGO partners, including SNPP and ANSA-EAP, made it possible to deliver food quickly and directly to the homes of those who need it the most.”

“Dahil matibay ang samahan ng SNPP, mahusay ang naging distribution—organized at may social distancing. Natuto ang parent-leaders sa tamang pagdi-distribute,” said SNPP president Jaina Catacio. “Sa mga beneficiary, hindi nila akalain na may ipamimigay talaga na Jollibee chicken packs. Naiyak at naluha sila, hindi akalain na matutugunan ang tawag ng tiyan, (Because of the strong structure and relationships within SNPP, the organization was able to help keep the distribution organized while ensuring social distancing. The parent-leaders even learned about how to properly conduct the distributions. The beneficiaries could hardly believe that there were Jollibee chicken packs that would be distributed. There were some in tears because they did not expect that their hunger would be addressed).”

Jollibee Group FoodAID Program

The food distribution effort is part of Jollibee Group’s FoodAID Program wherein the company earmarked P220 million-worth of food donations. From March 15 to May 10, 2020, the Jollibee Group and its non-government partners have already served over 3.8 million meals to frontliners and families all over the country.

“Even now when the community quarantine restrictions have been eased in many regions, many families are still need our help,” said Tiongson. “Together with our partners, we are exploring more ways to help even more families.”

To give the public a convenient way to actively take part in the FoodAID Program, the JGF has recently taken the coin banks that used to be found only on the counters of Jollibee Group stores and made them available online.

Donations to the Jollibee Group’s digital coin bank will be used to bring food packs directly to the doorsteps of families in need through the help of JGF’s partner non-governmental organizations, including SNPP and ANSA-EAP.

For interested donors, they may donate through online bank transfer to the Foundation’s Metrobank (Acct. No: 473-7-473-01406-4; Swift Code: MBTCPHMM) and RCBC (Acct. No: 1253-10519-0) accounts, or via PayMaya (http://pymy.co/jollibee).

Ube Cheese Pandesal by Biggies Delica TIn

It's the new trend nowadays. Ube Cheese Pandesal. New twist on our regular morning bread.

These days, ube cheese pandesal seems to take the spotlight in the local scene.  A variation of the traditional Filipino breakfast bread, Pandesal.  And why not, we Filipinos love our pandesal, be it for breakfast or afternoon snack. And Ube Pandesal with melty cheese filling is perfect for both.

Luckily, I have a friend who bakes and sells them.

Enjoy this Filipino bread roll for breakfast and as a snack. Biggies Delica Tin bakes everyday and delivers them freshly baked. They also offers other flavors such as Matcha Cheesy Pandesal and Peanutbutter pandesal!

My kids are such a fun of anything cheesy, they loved this and it's been weeks since we regularly order from them.

Doña Elena Tower Adds Life to Manila’s Thriving Property Market

The City of Manila has definitely had a resurgence under the leadership of Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso. When Mayor Isko removed unlawful obstructions and cleared illegal vendors off of Manila’s streets and sidewalks, he effectively changed how the city looked and how it moved. By cleaning up the city and bringing order to chaos, the determined mayor gave the City of Manila a fresh new feel that continues to inspire business confidence and draw consumer interest. And this hasn’t changed despite the COVID pandemic.

According to Lobien Realty Group (LRG), the City of Manila has a total of 99,874.29 square meters (sqm) of gross leasable office space and only 5,650.63 square meters (sqm) are currently vacant. LRG pointed out that this translates to a single digit vacancy rate of 6%, which is very low and signifies that in Manila, there is demand for office spaces and what is supplied in the market is being taken up.

One of the most highly anticipated real estate developments in Manila is the Doña Elena Tower, a mixed-use building developed by Happy Coral Way Realty Corporation. This 11-storey building will soon rise in the busy district of Sta. Mesa Manila near the boundary of Mandaluyong City.

The Doña Elena Tower, which has LRG as its sole leasing agent, will provide Manila with 19,051 sqm of gross leasable area.  Built at an accessible location that’s surrounded by a wide variety of businesses and essential institutions, the Doña Elena Tower offers its tenants the chance to work in a community where most of what they may want or need is readily available.  Situated close to the entry and exit ramps of the  on-going Skyway Stage 3 project and within the public transport system that connects EDSA through Shaw, LRG says Doña Elena Tower gives the added benefit of having quick access to Mandaluyong’s  burgeoning business and residential areas, without having to deal with the hustle and bustle of the already crowded central business districts of Makati, BGC or Ortigas.

LRG believes that the office space market is a good barometer for the state of the economy because when office spaces are in demand and supply is being taken up, it means that businesses are expanding, jobs are being generated and money is being spent. Based on the high demand for office spaces in Manila, LRG expects that finding tenants to occupy Doña Elena Tower will not be difficult. Judging by LRG’s optimism, it can be said that Happy Coral Way Realty Corporation made an excellent decision to build the Doña Elena Tower in the City of Manila.
