Testing Centers for the 2020-2021 Bar Exams

It's been a rough tough year for the country since Pandemic hit us. Bar Exams  and other licensure examinations has been postponed several times for the passed months.

As you guys all know, I've been preparing myself for the upcoming bar exams. Trying my very best to juggle work, motherhood and review plus blogging in the ample time of my hectic days. Going to try my luck on this year's #BestBarEver2021.

So, as announced a few days back, only a few testing sites are listed to be the venue of the said bar exams. My friend and I are still hoping that UST and FEU be included on the list too! For it will be more practical and convenient to be staying around UBELT area than that of the ADMU area. Considering also the pricey condo units for rent in the said location.

But then again, we will be having no choice if these two universities will not be joining as testing centers.

As posted on Philippine Star website, the following announcement has been made:

On Thursday, the SC en banc trooped to Saint Louis University in Baguio City to witness the signing of the contract between the school and high court. This makes SLU the premier learning institution in the North as one of the local testing centers for the next Bar exams.

Other than SLU, other schools that have been signed the memorandum are the following:

  • Ateneo de Manila University
  • Manila Adventist College
  • Saint Louis College – La Union
  • Saint Mary’s University
  • Cagayan State University
  • De La Salle Lipa
  • University of Nueva Caceres
  • University of Cebu – Banilad
  • Mindanao State University – Iligan
  • Mindanao State University – General Santos City
  • Ateneo de Davao University
  • Xavier University – Cagayan de Oro
  • Ateneo de Zamboanga University

Bar exams before the pandemic were held at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in the four Sundays of November,.

The 2020-2021 Bar exams will still be held across all Sundays of November, but this time, in several sites across the country.

Caught up with this pandemic situation plus financial struggles as a solo parent, I am hoping and praying that there'll be chances to  have UST and FEU as one of the testing center for the upcoming bar exams.

Practical and convenient for us coming from the province to be situated in a more familiar and less-expensive place to stay for more or less 2 months far from home and family.

4 Ways to Spend More time Outside

In this age of electronics there’s a growing appreciation for all the amazing life benefits gained from spending lots of time outside.

Research shows that getting outdoors can function like a natural medicine. More than just increasing your vitamin D levels, spending time in nature can result in the following health benefits:
* Improved mental clarity: children who are exposed to green environments tend to have high levels of cognitive functioning.

* Natural pain relief: Patients recovering from back surgery required less pain medication if they were in a hospital room with more sunlight.

* Less stress: Being exposed to even a virtual nature setting can reduce stress in some people.

If you want to more spend time outside, you need to have practical strategies that actually integrate with your busy lifestyle to make it easy.

Here are some ways you can spend more time outside (just to list a few, but there are a lot pf ways!):

1. Visit a park: You don’t need a reason (like reading a book) to go to a park. Whether you live in a city or rural area, there are parks virtually everywhere, so find one you like and go for a stroll. I remember a funny but good thing my friend told me, that all the while he was doing his regular walk he realized things like the need of buying a new place to stay and luckily got one from Calgary Homes For Sale! He's been living the dream life there with his family now!

2. Go for a Walk while Listening to a New Album, Podcast or Audio Book: If walking in silence doesn’t sound particularly enticing, give yourself something fun to listen to. Maybe you haven’t had much time to listen to your favorite band lately, or there’s a book you’ve always wanted to read that you just never got around to. Get it as an audio-book and take yourself for a stroll for 30 minutes every day. Most audio-books are between 2 and 6 hours long, so you’ll be done with it in a week or two. Podcasts can be interesting too. Some are funny, which would allow you some time to unwind. Others are educational and can teach you something you’ve always wanted to know. See the world is your playground!

3. Watch the Sunset: Many of us want nothing more than to hunker down on the sofa at the end of a tough workday and binge-watch our favorite TV shows. But this supports a sedentary lifestyle and will increase the amount of time you spend cooped up inside. Instead of staring at the screen, go outside and watch the sunset with a friend or family member. You’ll feel much more inspired by the beauty of the skies than you would by the adventures of familiar TV characters.

4. Leave your office and work outside: If you work remotely, you can work almost anywhere outdoors as long as you can tap into a Wi-Fi network. Those who work on-site at an office can take their laptop and cell phone to seating areas outside the office building for part of the day. You could even suggest having meetings with clients or coworkers outside. A different setting can be energizing and might lead to new ideas and solutions.

With minimal planning, you can find ways to maximize your time outside. The more time you spend outdoors, the more energized, creative, and relaxed you’ll feel. Whether you’re getting exercise, working on your laptop, socializing, taking photos, or learning about exotic plants and flowers, being outside will enhance the activity. If you get family, friends, and coworkers to join you in your outdoor adventures, you’ll enjoy these activities even more.

Authentic Indian Food House in Puerto Princesa City

Biryani Rice meal -
Biryani is popular throughout the Indian subcontinent, as well as among its diaspora. It is also prepared in other regions such as parts of AfghanistanIran, and Iraq.

As my best friend and I enjoyed walking on Baywalk, we happened to pass by this small restaurant situation at the left most part of the park (if you're from Malvar). Since we've been strolling for an hour, she told me to check this out and dine in. For she's been intrigued about one of her friend posting a photo of the Biryani meal on Facebook.

The place is actually nice, alfresco despite being small. We decided to order Chicken Biryani (Php 250.00) and followed with Beef Keema Paratha.

All authentic Indian Food. It was my first time trying the Biryani, hence there's nothing to compare it with.

Served hot. Aromatic it is because of all the herbs and spices put into it. Truly a trademark of an Indian food. That chili pepper on it spiked the taste! Ginger so potent, all in all, it's really a great meal!

Next we tried the Beef Keema Paratha (Php180.00). Wheat bread filled with ground beef and some herbs and spices.. This one is somewhat like a quesadillas or panodillo, a thin bread-like with fillings.
We left the place happy and with a full tummy!

You may call/text them to have your orders delivered at your doorsteps.
Just checkout their FB page: Chohans Kebab and Biryani Food House or call them at this mobile number:  09672644357

New Hype in PPC: Max & Bunny Shop Restaurant

Friday. When I got a text message from Julie Anne, asking if I am available for some time to go out and check some new place in town.Since it was a very tiring and busy week for me, I simply said yes! Originally we just wanted coffee, but then the place offers a lot more!

Max and Bunny Restaurant is located at Lanzanas Road, San Pedro Puerto Princesa City. Just beside Rubydina's Pension House ( a few meters from the Back of One Asenso Place).

It has a nice pergola at the backyard, with cages for the rabbits/bunnies they're selling. A great place to have a cup of coffee while reading a book or chit-chatting with friends. (Just have a mosquito repellent with you when you stay by this area on a late afternoon, for your own protection).

Cute lavatory area just by the entrance of the restaurant, a must for the pandemic. At the door, they also have thermal scanner and alcohol sprayer.

I particularly love the interiors and the furniture! Giving you a classical vibe, as if you're living at a Roman Times era! The chairs are so classy and looks fabulous!

They have these small area with some stuffs for sale. Some are LOCAL products and a few imported goods too. They also sell wines (sold per bottle).

While waiting for friends to arrived, Cathy and I decided to order some pica-pica. Nachos and Quesadillas (beef). Prep time was a bit long, maybe because the Nachos were freshly made. We undeniably liked the sauces from nachos to the dips for quesadillas!

As the other two arrived, we decided to order one viand and a pizza. For we're all trying to lose some weight or to that extent! Hahaha

Tika Masala good for 2-3 person, Max & Bunny's Original recipe - chicken meat cooked with tomatoes (with generous paste I think)  and herbs and spices! A delish one for us! The tomato based soup/sauce for this one is really powerful and is good for pita bread as dip! haha

Pizza was of that "Meat Lover" flavor. You have to option of upgrading the end crust to have cheese on it for an added amount of Php80.00.

Took a while to be cooked because they ran out of pre-made pizza dough, so they made a fresh one for us!

Flerida asked for hot coffee and the rest of us had Hot Sweet Honey Lemon as our last minute order drinks. They also have beers.

You'll notice the classy dining wares and utensils were being used, the staff informed us that these are all collections of the couple owner, which were all bought abroad during their trips/travels, hence the aesthetics.

We all enjoyed the meal we had, and the chit chats! We were glad that despite the semi-long waiting of our food, we were attended well by their waiters/staff. We also liked the idea of having bunnies around the resto, running, playing around.

From L-R: Juls, Cathy, Me and Fle

Oh by the way, they are also selling bunnies/rabbits! Cheapest is Php500.00 depending on the breed, size and age!

ThePalawan: Your All in One Social Networking Site

#ThePalawan app has been officially launched via Zoom Virtual Press-Con happened later this day.

This social networking app aims to gather all small, local businesses in Palawan to showcase or offer their products or services to the masses, and at the same time can function as a source of entertainment too!

With this app, you can stream live shows of local artists, vloggers and entertainers, watch movies and can even listen to music. Of course, it comes with chatting features as well.

As you can see, there are buttons for events, places, marketplace, almost everything you can find it here in this app. The HUB for everything PALAWAN. As in EVERYTHING!

One thing I liked about this app, as mentioned by Direk Dante, is that local small business can join the platform and advertise their businesses for a very affordable amount of Php1,000.00 for 3years (pandemic rate).

#ThePalawan is the brain child of Direk Dante Nico Garcia- the famous Cuyunon film-maker, known for being the director of Ploning.
